WARNING READ POST BEFORE WATCHING VIDEO
Have you ever wondered if one person can truly make a difference? Do you often wonder if what you are doing is having an impact? Are there times when you feel you are just spinning your wheals and wonder, “What’s the point”?
The video you are about to watch might hold a political and religious charge for many people but that’s NOT why I have chosen to share it with you here today. I picked this video because this heated conversation is a historically powerful example to demonstrate how much power we truly have as individuals to impact our own lives and the world in which we live.
I have lived my life as what most folks would call an optimist but recently I have begun to change my world view. I use to believe all I needed for life to go my way was to believe in good things, focus on the positive, and keep the negative at bay even when keeping the negative at bay meant deceiving myself about the realities of my current circumstances. I suppose I could credit this way of thinking to being part of the generation of positive thinking. I have found the biggest problem with positive thinking is it consists of lots of thinking and very little action.
Edmund Burke, an Irish political philosopher once said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
I still believe in positive thinking and focusing on the solution BUT I now realize it is imperative to be realistic about our current circumstances. Yes we can hope, pray, and plan for the future but without having a realistic understanding of what is happening in our life right now and what we have done personally to contribute to putting ourselves in our current position we will never achieve that which we seek.
I’ve discovered there are three things we can do to move ourselves forward exponentially supporting us is gaining personal power to impact our lives as individuals and also have a significant impact on our ability to influence the world in which we live.
These three things are:
1. Decide: what is important to you, what will give your life meaning and purpose, and how committed are you to transforming your life to live a life of your own personal design. As you decide what is most important to you, you connect with your BIG ENOUGH WHY.
2. Review: In order for you to live a life of purpose and happiness you must be painfully honest with yourself about where you are right now and what it will take to get you to where you want to be to so that you are able to achieve and live your BIG ENOUGH WHY. It’s important to remember there will be areas of your life where you are much further off track then you had thought and other areas where you are spot on and you aren’t giving yourselves credit for how far you have already come.
3 Act: Once you have decided what you want and why you are committed to getting it, this happens when you connect with your BIG ENOUGH WHY, and you have done a review of your current circumstances it’s time to take action. The first action step to take is to devise a plan or a road-map. You’ve identified what you want and why you want it, you’ve explored where you are at currently and what it will take for you to get from where you are now to where you want to be now all you need is a map to get you there.
This is a simple formula, right? Yes, it is simply but the problem is it isn’t easy to do and this is why I picked such an emotionally charged video for this post. I want to enrage you, connect to powerful emotions, and to help you move to action.
One last thing before you watch the video, I want to reiterate the fact that I’m not using this video because of the political topic it is addressing but because of how Brigitte Gabriel is focusing on the fact the minority of a population that is taking action is far more powerful than the majority who is inactive or NOT taking action.
With this concept in mind there is a perfect historical representation that one person CAN AND DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. In this video they are focusing on the negative and I implore you to take into consideration how you can take this message as an inspiration that what you do as well as what you choose NOT to do, not matter how small it seem to be at the time, can and does have far reaching impact on your life and the world in which we live.
